Biographical sketch
Dr. Williamson comes to Northwestern as a faculty member after 25 years as a higher education administrator in the Student Affairs field. She also has experience as a counselor in the public schools with elementary, junior high, and high school students. As a student affairs professional, Dr. Williamson has worked at universities all over the United States , including Tulane University , the University of Florida and the State University of New York (SUNY) system. She served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Henderson State University and Arkansas State University . Dr. Williamson also served as an executive with a multinational IT corporation for four years. Returning to higher education in 2004, she became the Vice Chancellor for Student Development at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga . Having taught part-time for several years, Dr.Williamson moved over to the faculty full-time in 2006. She taught in UT Chattanooga's doctoral program Educational Leadership. She joined the NSU faculty in the fall of '07, teaching in the Student Personnel, Counseling, and School Counseling programs.
Dr. Williamson's research interests include the area of finance and budgeting in higher education, leadership at the organizational and personal level, and issues of race and gender. Since coming to NSU she has also become heavily involved in teaching counseling and this has spurred research interests in this arena as well.
