Biographical sketch

Dr. Henrietta Williams Pichon has devoted her career in the academy to access, development, and persistence of historically underrepresented populations in higher education to include students, faculty, and staff. In 1994, she began her professional career as a Retention Counselor at the University of New Orleans (UNO) for a special admission program. While at UNO, she gained additional responsibilities through various positions she earned through numerous promotions. Eventually, Dr. Pichon became the Director of three programs (i.e., special admission, summer bridge, and special readmission for students academically suspended) designed to not only give bright and hardworking students access to a college education but also to provide them with the necessary tools and skills needed in order to persist and ultimately to graduate. While pursuing her doctorate, Dr. Pichon began to make the transition from administrator to faculty and in fall 2005, she joined the Educational Leadership doctoral program faculty at Rowan University in Glassboro , NJ . During her tenure at Rowan, she taught both research methodology and higher education administration courses. In fall 2007, Dr. Pichon joined the Student Personnel Services graduate program faculty at Northwestern State University with primary teaching responsibilities for the Student Affairs Administrative track of the program; she also teaches educational psychology and research methods courses as needed.
