Biographical sketch
Dr. Gerra Wellman Perkins is a native of Leesville , Louisiana . In December 2000 she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond , Louisiana . She earned a Master's of Education degree in School Counseling in 2002, also from Southeastern Louisiana University, and completed the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education at the University of New Orleans in August 2006.
Dr. Perkins is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Louisiana and she is also a National Certified Counselor ( NCC ) and National Certified School Counselor (NCSC). She worked as a full-time school counselor in Louisiana public schools for a number of years before moving to the university level. Dr. Perkins has presented at local, state, national, and international conferences on a wide range of counseling topics including school counseling, play therapy, supervision, and counselor educator training.
