Adult Education

The Adult Education program at Northwestern State University (NSU) meets the instructional needs of those persons who provide training in work-force development sites, businesses, educational institutions, and social agencies. The program addresses standards of the Commission of Professors of Adult Education.

The Master of Arts (M.A.) degree program consists of 33-semester hours, including 12-semester hours in educational foundations, 12-semester hours in adult education, 6-semester hours in a support area such as educational leadership or educational technology, and 3-semester hours in an application area such as a project in lieu of thesis or a thesis.

All courses of the Adult Education program are offered through distance learning delivery system via the Internet.

The M.A. in Adult Education (510) consists of the following courses:

  1. Foundations: Education 5840; Adult Education 5700; Educational Psychology 5700; Educational Technology 5780.
  2. Concentration Area: Adult Education 4700, 5730, 5740, 5750.
  3. Support Area: 6 semester hours from Adult Education, Educational Leadership or Educational Technology.
  4. Application Area: 3 semester hours from Education 5950 or 5980.

NSU offers all Adult Education courses every semester (fall, spring, and summer) via the Internet.
